December 14th, 2016 – It’s official: Amazon has made it’s first drone delivery in the U.K. The downside: it still may take a while before the operation expands to other parts of the world.
Over the coming months, Amazon plans on expanding to several dozen customers. For the time being, the deliveries will happen during the day and when the weather is optimal.
The deliveries are expected to arrive within 30 minutes and won’t cost anything extra to the buyer. Unfortunately for people in the United States, you’ll need to wait a little longer.
Amazon’s delivery drones fly on their own- or autonomously- which currently isn’t legal in the United States.
Perhaps in the near future when the legalities have been worked out, Amazon will be able to make drone delivery a real, everyday occurrence. But for now we’ll just need to wait.
